CRCC Attends the 2024 Recovery Leadership Summit: A Powerful Gathering for Advancing Recovery Services

From June 2nd to June 5th, 2024, CRCC participated in the Recovery Leadership Summit held at the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center. This national event gathered nationwide leaders, experts, and advocates dedicated to advancing recovery services. The summit offered a unique opportunity to network, learn, and engage in meaningful conversations about the future of recovery, with a strong focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Morning Wellness and Community Building

Each summit day began with Morning Wellness sessions, such as Pranayama and Meditation, setting a reflective tone for the day's activities. These sessions provided a space for attendees to connect with themselves and others, fostering a sense of unity and collective purpose.

Key Sessions: Learning from Leaders

One of the most anticipated events was the conversation with former Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy, who discussed his book Profiles in Mental Health Courage. Kennedy shared compelling stories of individuals who have faced mental health challenges and addiction, highlighting their bravery and resilience. This session was not only informative but deeply inspiring, offering insights into the human spirit's ability to overcome adversity.

LGBTQ+ Addiction and Recovery: A Focus on Inclusion

Another powerful session was the panel discussion titled Finding Pride and Resilience: A Panel Discussion on LGBTQ+ Addiction and Recovery. This discussion brought together diverse voices from the LGBTQ+ recovery community, exploring the unique experiences and triumphs of LGBTQ+ individuals on their recovery journeys. The conversation celebrated Pride Month and underscored the importance of creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for all individuals in recovery.

CRCC’s Commitment to Recovery Leadership

Dora Dantzler Wright, CRCC Executive Director, shared why attending the Recovery Leadership Summit is vital for CRCC: "We support this event and FAVOR because it offers invaluable opportunities to connect with leaders from across the nation who are equally passionate about advancing recovery services. The conversations around diversity, equity, and inclusion are crucial as we work together to build a more resilient and inclusive recovery community. Attending this summit allows us to bring back innovative ideas and collaborate on strategies to benefit our community."
