Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: $40,000 annually
Project Overview: The Chicago Recovery Communities Coalition (CRCC) is launching the
PACSS grant project aimed at addressing the needs of two diverse and at-risk populations across Illinois: emerging adults aged 18-25 and adults over 21 who are legally permitted to use substances such as cannabis. The project focuses explicitly on Non-Hispanic Black emerging adults who face a disproportionately high overdose fatality rate. The project spans all 102 counties in Illinois to ensure comprehensive statewide coverage.
About CRCC: CRCC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Recovery Community Organization operating as a peer-run entity and a member of the Faces &Voices of Recovery's Association of Recovery Community Organizations (ARCO). With a staff and board comprising individuals in recovery who represent a diverse range of racial and ethnic backgrounds, CRCC is dedicated to providing evidence-based Peer Recovery Support Services (PRSS) to individuals and families affected by substance use and co-occurring disorders. Located and providing direct services to the Chicago metropolitan area and northeastern Illinois, CRCC also extends its reach through several impactful statewide initiatives. CRCC was the first Recovery Community Organization (RCO) established in the state, beginning its work in 2014.
The organization oversees many statewide initiatives offering technical assistance to recovery-focused organizations across the state, tackling systemic issues and bridging gaps in Recovery Support Services. This assistance includes removing employment barriers for those in recovery, managing recovery-focused statewide task forces, and addressing health disparities. CRCC actively advocates for racial equality and works to enhance the cultural competency of service providers, thereby strengthening Illinois healthcare infrastructure and addressing ethnic health disparities through specialized training and advocacy.
