About Us:CRCC is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the communities of Chicago. We provide recovery support services to individuals seeking life-changing results from alcohol, drugs, and mental illness. Since 2012, we’ve offered life skills and recovery education, peer recovery support services, and services that connect community youth (ages 16-24) to resources in leadership, employment, youth development, education, mentoring, and wellness classes.
Position Overview:As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in inspiring hope, facilitating connections, and promoting wellness within our recovery community. Peer Support Specialists assist in navigating clients through recovery support activities and effective group participation.
Key Responsibilities:
Peer Mentorship: Build rapport and engage clients through treatment using motivational interviewing and enhancement techniques.
Individualized Support: Collaborate with individuals in various stages of recovery to build a Recovery Plan addressing comprehensive needs encompassing physical, emotional, and social well-being. Meet with clients at least once per week to ensure successful implementation of the recovery plan.
Group Facilitation: Lead support groups and treatment sessions using client-centered and self-directed approaches to recovery planning.
Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate assistance and guidance to individuals in crisis, helping them navigate challenges while promoting resilience and coping skills.
Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and rights of individuals in recovery by collaborating with clients to engage family members in recovery planning.
Resource Referral: Connect clients to relevant community resources to meet individual needs through healthcare, housing, and employment, delivered in a manner consistent with ROSC.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions and recovery portfolios, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Professional Development: Stay informed about best practices in recovery support services to assist clients in sustaining recovery post-treatment for a minimum of 1 year.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalency
Knowledge of Substance Use Disorder, Addiction Recovery, or a related field is required.
Strong Interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport, demonstrate empathy, and maintain boundaries.
Excellent Communication and active listening skills.
Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
Word processing and data entry skills are welcomed.
